DOT/FMCSA Compliance

The primary mission of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities involving commercial motor vehicles (CMV’s). One mechanism used to facilitate this effort is updating current and developing new medical fitness standards for drivers of CMV’s and guidelines for the Medical Examiners.

The FMCSA’s expert Medical Panel has determined that that physician’s conducting DOT / FMCSA physicals must focus on specific criteria in accordance with the following:

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
  • Respiratory Disease
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Medication Names & Usage
  • Diabetes Status (Hemoglobin A1C Value)
  • Blood Pressure (HTN)
  • Musculoskeletal Disease
  • Neurologic Disease
  • Psychological Condition

1 Source OHS will ensure that all physicians performing DOT Physicals on your behalf meet all the parameters set forth by the DOT / FMCSA.
